Alber Elbaz loves to say that he designs for real women rather than fashion editors and models. This Lanvin Spring collection could be described as: strong, glamourous and with a subtle edge. It contains simple dresses for day, work suits, cocktail pieces, raincoats and ravishing evening wear. Colour played a major role, first in several shades of stone, then jewel tones of orange and ruby, and then finally, neon.
Karlie Kloss stole the show in a stunning orange dress. Elbaz also layered on the embellishment with pagan metalwork and we've seen metal bracelets that cuffed the shoes to the ankle which gives the outfits a certain edge. The shoes look amazing, but oh so high. Something which only true Stiletto Warriors can pull off. But we can definitely say this collection shows the perfect line between industrial and romantic Paris.
Paris Chic at it´s finest, if you ask me!

*A tip for fashionista's on a budget: Lanvin also designes an exclusive winter collection for H&M which will be in stores in 2 days (in Belgium)!*

Blumarine delivered a animal print heavy Spring/Summer 2011 collection at Milan Fashion Week.
“I wanted to offer liberty to women,” said Anna Molinari before her show referencing the collection’s mostly voluminous, light and fluid Seventies silhouettes in silk jersey, crêpe and chiffon. The key trend was animal prints in all colours: from pastel brights to neutral browns. The overall look was sexy and strong; skinny bootleg pants, second-skin sheath dresses, and boho-chic minidresses. These clothes are clearly destined for beaches, resorts, yachts, and nightclubs.
Paired with accessories like long strap bags and statement jewelry to die for: an abundance of colourful enamel bracelets, rings and pendant necklaces featuring zodiac symbols.

I wouldn't suggest to buy an entire Blumarine look (could be a bit over the top), but one playfull piece can brighten up that spring wardrobe and is definitely worth the investment!

It's been a while since I posted a Street Style Post.
But now the Fashion Weeks of Spring 2011 are officially finished, so it was about time to select my favourite outfits off the runway!
The key trends were bright make up (purple eyeshadow and red lipstick), wavy hear, leathers and fur. I've also noticed a great eye for the contrast between utilitarian fabrics and leather with softer and more touchable materials.

My golden advice for choosing an outfit is not trying to dress yourself in designer pieces from head to toe, but focus on a flattering silhouette and versatile pieces that are fashionable, but understated and can be used again.  We've seen skinny leg pants, billowing knit tops, long layering pieces and edgy bags and boots. These pieces are investment worthy. In my opinion it's first off all looking for a inimitable personal style with an it-girl quality. Once you created your own style you can implement the trends of the moment into your personal look much easier, instead of just copying designer trends.

For spring 2011 the British designer built his collection around the idea of a shipwrecked working maiden and her weather-worn Western wardrobe. That translated into a jaunty, color-packed collection featuring raffia fringe and embroidery for miniskirts, cropped jackets and lightweight wool shifts; swingy skirts dripping with bugle beads and peacock feathers, and handcrafted tops with details made from bits of wood and tin. The dominant note was a muted khaki, accented with dusky shades of blush and shimmering metallic beadwork.

For his evening looks the designer chose floor length parachute silk gowns. So we noticed a quite longer silhouette this Spring instead of the mini skirts and dresses from previous Spring.
Personally I´m loving the gold peacock feather skirt and the dark keyhole frock with a neckline edged in silver beading.
