Donatella Versace opted to show her latest Fall 2011 collection inside the Via Gesu Versace palazzo where Gianni always lived. The signature pieces get an eighties inspired revamp with metal embellishments, tailored coats and open toed boots.  The exploration of sharp and sinuous cuts combined with anatomical shapes is the new essence of the Versace house. But also house signatures were brought up again: the baroque curlicues were blown up into a single boldly colored detail: a vine, a flower,... Sophisticated materials were used like python, suede, colorful fur. Almost the entire collection pieces were adorned with regimental gold buttons.
All the pieces are one by one very sophisiticated and expertly tailored, daring but never tending into vulgarity. And especially this season, very wearable everyday pieces that you can also wear besides the runway or special events.
If I had to choose one piece, It would definitely be the first that Natasha Poly is wearing.

  1. I'm usually not a fan of Versace as I find it to be too in your face but I really like this collection. Its like a subdued versace. It still has the Versace feel to it with the glamour, gold detailing and the print. But the shapes are more minimalistic almost Calvin Klein circa 1990s. Love this collection and your blog.
