Fashionista's have marked the week of April 16th in their agenda's for a long time now. Me and my friends headed to the Antwerp contemporary fashion days on the 21st to catch some big sales. A couple of years ago, stocksales were still very privately, now they are part of the very clever city-marketing of the city of Antwerp. Two times a year, you can head several locations in Antwerp, where many Belgian designers sell their last season (or earlier) designs for very good prices. With so many places to go to, me and my friends had to make a selection. Glad that we drove the car, so we still could go to: Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Les Hommes, Ra with labels like Gareth Pugh, Peter Pilotto, Giles, a bit of Topshop,... and the Pop up stores located in the Kloosterstraat. The pieces from Ra were definitely one of my favourites. Ra is a concept store and platform reconstructed and renovated with respect for its historical architectural value, nested in between second hand furniture shops and galleries. The RA concept store is the brain of two ex-students of the Royal Academy.
They are being supported by a multi-talented team that will constantly set collaborations with
guest contributers to inspire and promote, discover and bridge emerging
multidisciplinary talent.
Even though my feet hurt as hell yesterday evening, a big thanks to Jonathan & Myrthe for driving me all around town!
